HEIC to JPG Converter

HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is Apple's implementation of the HEIF image format, which stores photos compressed with the HEVC (H.265) video codec. iPhones and iPads have saved photos as HEIC by default since iOS 11 in 2017. The payoff is file size: a HEIC photo is typically 40–50% smaller than a JPEG of the same visual quality, so a 12 MP photo that would be about 3–4 MB as a JPEG is often only 1.5–2 MB as HEIC.

HEIC also supports features JPEG cannot: 16-bit color depth (JPEG is limited to 8-bit), transparency, and multiple images in a single file — which is how Apple stores burst shots and the frames of a Live Photo. That is why this converter sometimes produces more than one JPG from a single HEIC file.

The catch is compatibility. Windows 10 and 11 need the "HEIF Image Extensions" (and a paid HEVC codec on many machines) just to preview HEIC files, Android only gained reliable support around Android 10, and countless websites, upload forms, CMSs, and older applications simply reject .heic uploads. JPG, by contrast, opens everywhere — every browser, OS, photo editor, and printing service made in the last 25 years. Converting HEIC to JPG is the fastest way to make an iPhone photo universally usable.
